ANA COSTA RIBEIRO. Artist, filmmaker, poet and teacher. PhD in Contemporary Artistic Processes from Rio de Janeiro State University and Master of Fine Arts in Cinema from San Francisco State University, California. Her research is developed through relationships between the poetics of the BODY, the MEMORY and the LANDSCAPE. Works mainly in the audiovisual field, through experimental narratives, creative writing and essay cinema. In recent years, has been at the artistic residencies WALDEN (Residency for Documentary Creation, Uruguay) and ESPAÇO VAZIO (Residence at Largo das Artes, Brazil); and held two solo exhibitions: HOME IS WHEN WE COME BACK (Galeria do Ateliê) and BEYOND THE FUSION POINT (EV Largo das Artes). As a director, made seven short films, including ARPOADOR, and four documentary series, including #302 (2nd Season, Canal Brasil). Has been working with editing for 20 years, having collaborated with several artists and filmmakers in video installations and documentaries, such as the feature film TAMBORO (Best Editing Award, Festival do Rio). Participated in contemporary poetry performances and had essays published in Brazil and Portugal. Has been a teacher for 12 years, in courses on documentary, cinematographic language, editing, audiovisual narratives and creative process, among others. Currently, develops her first feature film as a director: THERMODIELECTRIC, about a scientific phenomenon discovered by her grandfather, an experimental physicist. The film was contemplated by the RUMOS ITAÚ CULTURAL program and is expected to premiere in 2022.
